Head Coach - Steve Maddock

Steve Maddock is a highly accomplished baseball coach with an extensive career that spans several professional baseball teams and organizations. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a minor in Business from Howard Payne University in 1994. He currently serves as the Head Baseball Coach at Trinity High School in Cedar Hill, TX.

Steve spent 19 years in professional baseball, 7 as a player, 3 as a coach, and 9 years as a manager including winning the 2002 Central League Championship as the Manager of the San Angelo Colts.  He has coached at every level of baseball and owned and operated numerous baseball academies.

Bench Coach - Butch Chapman

Butch Chapman has spent nearly all of his life involved in Alton baseball.  As a player and as a coach, Butch has a massive passion for the game. 

During the first three seasons of River Dragons baseball Butch has been a key player on and off the field. 
On the field he is a player and fan favorite in the River Dragons organization.  During the off-season, Butch can be found at the field most days improving things around the ballpark to help provide our fans and players with a better experience at The Hop!

Pitching Coach - Toro Trevino

Toro Trevino pitched seven years in independent baseball including time with the Gateway Grizzlies and River City Rascals I the Frontier League. 

Hitting Coach - Mike Goss

The former minor leaguer outfielder played eight seasons of "Indy Ball" in five different leagues as a player and brings 14years overall as a player and coach to the RailCats dugout in 2016.

 

The Boston Red Sox drafted Goss in the 11 round of the 2002 June Draft and played two years in the Red Sox organization. In November of 2003, Goss was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks as part of a Curt Schilling trade that sent the future "bloody sock" right-hander to "Beantown". With the Diamondbacks, Goss reached AA El Paso in his one season with the Arizona organization.

 

After three years in affiliated ball, Goss moved on to the independent Northern League, landing with the Lincoln Saltdogs in 2005, and would go on to have stops as a player in the Can-Am League, Golden League, United League, and North American League. He began his coaching career in 2013 with the McAllen Thunder and served as hitting coach of the San Angelo Colts in 2014. In 12 professional seasons, Goss has a career .301 batting average with 19 home runs and 293 RBIs in 679 games.

 

Goss, a native of Mississippi, was born and raised in the "Magnolia State" attending Louisville (MS) High School. After high school, he moved on to Jackson, where he played his college ball at Jackson State University, where he hit a combined .373 in two seasons for the Tigers before being drafted in 2002.
